Spyder – President and Founder of Freedom Sisterhood
The Freedom Sisterhood was born of heartache and love, which
often seem to come hand in hand. I’ve
been riding off and on since I was 7 (more off than on) but 3 years ago my
husband and I decided to get bikes and hit the road. The kids were getting older and we knew that
riding was our passion.
What I soon
realized is that the MC world was not necessarily friendly to women. After serving as Secretary to a men’s club
and the heartache of being told that I wasn’t wanted as a full member due to
being a woman, I decided to stop banging my head against the wall and seek out
like-minded women; women who are strong, caring and want nothing more than to
be part of a Sisterhood and ride!
Thus, the Freedom Sisterhood WMC was born!
My ride: 2004 VTX1800C
Spitfire, Sgt at Arms
My love of two wheels began in childhood with my 1st
bike, a silver & black Mongoose w/trick pegs, while the girls on the block
were riding pink bikes I was exploring dirt paths and fields.
In ‘96 I thought it would be a great idea to buy a Yamaha v-max 1100, a whole lotta bike for a 22yr old w/an attitude ,no license & no fear, I blasted around for a couple months till I laid it down outside Boulder, totaling the bike. I developed a fear from that, and with a family & job, didn’t ride for years until ‘07 when I met a group of friends who rode every chance they got.
I was a passenger for 1 season and it re-fueled my passion for the open road. I took a Riders Edge course in July ‘08, bought my 1st H-D 2 weeks later & headed to Sturgis with 10 bikes. Thousands of miles & several long distance trips led me trade up to my current bike. I have frequently ridden solo until I found Freedom Sisterhood WMC, this has filled my desire for riding, fellowship & a bond that was at times missing in my life. FSFFFS!
